Zero gravity chairs are designed to provide a feeling of “weightlessness” by placing you in a position similar to one developed by NASA for astronauts as they enter Space. The Zero Gravity position is designed to counteract the adverse effects of gravity that create pressure on the spine and can make symptoms of back pain worse.

The Zero Gravity position involves placing your body into a virtually weightless position, elevating the legs above the heart and relieving pressure from the spine, empowering sore, tired muscles to relax and restore their natural balance and well-being.  The Perfect Chair
A reclined position, with feet elevated, can be helpful for swollen and aching legs and can improve venous circulation back to the heart. Gravity acting on the spine in the upright and sitting positions can compress the vertebral disks, and make the muscles work continuously. Because the reclined position neutralises the effects of gravity on the spine, the muscles are rested and the discs can restore their size and shape. The disc pressure and stress on the back is at its least when lying down in the Zero Gravity position: 35kg as opposed to the sofa slouch at 185kg!

The manual version of The Perfect Chair™ uses a locking mechanism that allows you to adjust the reclining position and then lock the chair in that position.
