Varier was one of the first modern companies to create a new school of thought in regards to everyday seating habits. Peter Opsvik was the man behind Varier's bestselling chair – the kneeling chair. It was an idea that came to fruition in 1979 with the theory that is would allow for freedom in body movement.
Varier later went on to develop Opsvik’s design to become one of the best international suppliers of kneeling chairs. These chairs are made to encourage people to lead less sedentary lives and to move away from passive sitting. Encouraging movement means that these chairs are also great for teenagers and young adults. Varier also produce their own zero gravity chair, a chair that relieves almost all pressure from the spine.
