With so many different ergonomic seating brands available to the modern end user, it's easy to feel confused as to which one to choose to satisfy a specific requirement.

At Back2, we have spent the last few decades dealing with a wide range of brands and suppliers from across the globe.

One of these brands is Okamura. This Japanese company was founded in 1945 in Yokohama. At first the factory produced garden furniture and manufacturing parts;  in the early 50s the company even developed the first Japanese post-war aircraft in collaboration with the University of Japan.

It's also in the 50s that the company started producing early versions of the modern office workstation. In the 60s this trend strengthened with the production of junior desks and even more adult workstations and office chairs.

A lot has happened since then and today Okamura employs well over 3,000 staff; it's listed in the Tokyo and Osaka stock exchange and features 6,321 shareholders.

The company's environmental policies are clearly laid out and Okamura is certified to ISO 14001 standard.

Okamura consistently creates items which are functional and stylish whilst combining ergonomics, ease of use and aesthetics. One such example is the Repiroue stool, which has so far won four awards: the iF DESIGN AWARD, Red Dot Design Award, Good Design Award, and IAUD award.

When it comes to the task seating range, mesh backrests and slim minimal design meet technology and sturdy materials to create a long-lasting, quality chair that is equally suited to an open-plan office and to a home studio. Black and neutral colours are available as well as bright hues and pastel shades.

Okamura's task seating range comprises a variety of models which cater for individuals of various heights and built. Here are a few examples of what to expect:

The CP chair features a narrow design and swivelling armrests with a great range of adjustment, allowing even the most petite users to make use of the armrest feature and feel their shoulders supported.

The Contessa Chair features a wider, more open design with a taller backrest and larger, padded armrests.

Okamura Portone is a good all-round office chair which is exclusive to Back2.

All in all, Okamura offers something for everyone and pleases the lovers of minimal, functional and Japanese design.
